Where Dorchester families learn to stand a little taller.
Swaby’s Tae Kwon Do Academy teaches kids from age three, teens and adults on Neponset Avenue. Grand Sensei Carlos Swaby and his team of instructors teach discipline, confidence and respect, one class at a time.

Classes
One school. Three classes. Every age.
Students train with others their own age and size, so a four-year-old learning to bow in and a fourteen-year-old learning to spar each get a class built for where they are.

Junior Taekwondo
First kicks, first bows, and the first time listening to a coach who isn’t mom or dad. Short drills, lots of movement, and real pride when they get it right.

Kids Taekwondo
Pad work, forms and sparring in full gear. This is where kids start to see what effort earns them, one belt at a time.

Teen & Adult Taekwondo
Kicking, forms, conditioning and sparring for teens and grown-ups, beginners included. A real skill and a real workout, with people who want you to get better.
Teen & adult classes →On the tournament floor
The trophy shelf keeps growing.
Swaby’s students have competed at World Martial Arts Federation tournaments and come home with trophies. These are a few of those days.

What the mat teaches
Kicks are the easy part.
Discipline
Bow in, line up, listen, try again. The habits are small and they add up, for a five-year-old and for a fifty-year-old.
Confidence
Breaking a board, earning a new belt, stepping up to spar for the first time. Each one is proof to a student that hard things are doable.
Community
Classes run from age three through adults, so kids, teens and parents can all train at the same school.
The instructors
The people on the mat.
Five instructors teach at Swaby’s. You’ll hear a few different titles in class: each is simply how that instructor is addressed on the mat.
